What's a farmhouse ale. Phil markowski’s widely popular and influential 2004 book farmhouse ales helped make the term common in craft beer. Farmhouse ales are traditional summer beers in france and belgium that were made in the winter and drunk throughout crop planting, maintenance, and harvest. There are no strict rules surrounding it.
